Garoua Cameroon: Gov’t grants 600t of animal feed to farmers

Cameroon government provides 600 tonnes of animal feed to farmers in the North to prevent period of hardship

(Business in Cameroon) – The Cameroonian Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dr Taïga, has just started the distribution of animal feed in Garoua, the regional capital, to farmers in North and Extreme-North in Cameroon.

According to reliable sources, in total 600 tonnes of cotton grain have been graciously offered to farmers in order to ensure that they can continue to feed their livestock during the period of hardship when food is in short supply in the northern regions.

For this purpose, the National Veterinary Laboratory (Lanavet) also benefited from the government’s assistance with the provision of a substantial amount of equipment and feed to the State entity in charge of animal health. The equipment was purchased thanks to financing for the Agricultural Competitiveness Improvement Project (PACA) implemented with the support of the World Bank.
