Eto’o gets third nomination in 2011

   Cameroonian skipper, Samuel Eto’o Fils has been nominated among five other players for the BBC African Player of the Year Award.

The nomination comes on the heels of two other nominations; that of the 2011 Ballon D’or award and the African Player of the Year award.

The shortlist unveiled by BBC has pit Eto’o in competition with five other African players.

These are Andre Dede Ayew, (Ghana), Samuel Eto’o, (Cameroon), Seydou Keita (Mali)and the Ivorian duo, Yaya Toure and Gervinho.

The performance of the players reveals that Samuel Eto’o scored 21 goals with Inter Milan prior to his departure to Anzhi Makachkala where he has already scored seven goals. Eto’o is one of the favourites alongside Yaya Toure of Manchester City.

Whilst the Cameroonian has been shortlisted on several occasions in the past, he has often lost against players playing of the Barclays Premiership.

The nominees will be judged following their individual skills, technical ability and consistency, impact on results and fair play. The results will be disclosed on December 16.

African football fans have been called upon to cast their votes before December 09 to determine their footballer of the year.

.Eto’o hopes to go home with one of the awards amongst the Fifa Ballon D’Or,The BBC African Player Award and the African Footballer of the year.
