Wesley Sneijder: I understand Samuel Eto’o’s transfer to Anzhi Makhachkala

The Dutchman believes that the African striker’s rich CV justifies a move to the Russian club, but he distanced himself from speculation about his own future.

Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder has declared he will not judge the decision of striker Samuel Eto’o to move to Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala for a reported fee of 28 million euros.

Eto’o, who won a Serie A championship and a Champions League title during a successful two years at Inter, has been criticized for his transfer to Anzhi, which finished 11th in the RPL last season. Many believe he was strictly motivated by his reported salary.

“I understand him, because he is already 30-years-old,” Sneijder told Goal.com. “He has won everything that can be won, and even more than just once. At my age, I will not move to Russia, but from Samuel’s point of view, I can understand it.”

The Dutch midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, was noncommittal when asked if he could still leave Inter before the end of the transfer window.

“I distance myself from these stories. If anything happens, it happens. We will see,” Sneijder said.
